About Us

It all began with a hike. A long hike. The Appalachian Trail took up most of my 2023 and, on returning to “normal” life, I decided to bring fun and fabulous together in my home. Living on The Trail for many months, changes the way you think. If an item is not useful, for more than one job, it is not worth having in your life. On the Trail, weight was the most important factor. In my home, it is usefulness. Creating my first Tissues and Kitchen Towels for my own use, friends and family were soon requesting some for themselves. And so a business began.

Creating an item that looks good, stands apart from the rest and provides years of use and enjoyment was a challenge I accepted gladly. Poring over and choosing fun fabrics was the easiest part but finding a suitable receptible for my “reusable tissues” was somewhat more problematic. Searches on the internet found others were using large plastic drink lids on Jars (not a fan of plastic), punching holes in jar lids (thin metal edges catch and damage the cloths), sewn box like holders (not attractive or strong enough). Of course, these comments are only my personal opinions and what was currently available would suit many, but did not fit my required specifications.

I immediately loved the use of glass jars, as it showcases the fabric designs to compliment home decor. However it took months of development, trial and error, to create the current lid. It still uses a minimal amount of plastic, which is necessary to protect and feed the fabric wipes, but also uses the original jar lids for authenticity. Being as “Earth Friendly” as possible is important to me, so using the smallest amount of plastic possible was my goal.

It was soon apparent that using reusable wipes and kitchen towels greatly reduced our shopping bill for paper products. Therefore, I branched into creating Cootchie Cloths and Make Up Remover Wipes. The final item in my original lineup of products is the Whimsy Go Wipe. I created them to use on my backpack as I would have loved to have had one whilst on the Trail and am now using them for future hiking endeavors. They were quickly adopted by friends and family for other uses (attached to stroller, golf bag, gym kit, car console, etc) and so the name was born. They couldn’t be called by their original name, Hiker Wipes, as there are so many more uses - therefore, Go Wipes is a better fit.

If you have ideas that you’d like to see created, don’t hesitate to reach out with your thoughts. Many people taking small, earth friendly, choices is the most effective way to create a better world for us and our children. An educated consumer is the best kind of customer and I look forward to meeting many of you at fairs and festivals in the Maryland area.
